Case Study 4:

Charities

Charities typically need to operate on very tight budgets.  It is therefore imperative that databases are used to their full potential in order to maximise fundraising strategy and supporter relations.

There are a number of donor management software packages on the market and these are often used as a cost effective solution for Charities to manage their donor base, however the success of these systems depends on the clarity of the brief and the clear understanding of how the data is structured and used.

Database Vision has worked with both disability and faith charities, using Raisers Edge and Progress software.  In each case a review of the data collection, data structure and data usage, have highlighted system and operational modifications that have helped to get the database back on track and delivering to the charity’s needs.

Database Vision spent time with each charity to understand how they coded, captured and input data into their chosen software package.  They also analysed how the data was used to manage their various supporter relationships.

From the in-depth review and Database Vision’s recommendations, both charities have a new found confidence in their understanding of their data and have been able to increase their fundraising efforts through improved data selections for fundraising activities, donations analysis and supporter relationship management.
